Celebrating over100 Years of God's Witness to the Windsor Terrace Community
CHURCH OF THE APOSTLES
HOMECOMING2008
My Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Come home; Come home, Holy Apostles Church. Come home to the warm and gentle arms of the Lord.
You are our families, friends and neighbors, so you are cordially invited to attend our Homecoming Service on September 21, 2008, at 10:00 AM, Church of the Holy Apostles 612 Greenwood Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11218. Our own Rev. Frederick Oppare-Addo will conduct the service to welcome us back home.
Now that we have reenergized, renewed and invigorated our physical bodies over the summer months, we are ready to return home to continue our spiritual journey. Although we cannot be separated from the Divine Presence, community worship is the ultimate in Christian Fellowship. This is especially true at Holy Apostles Church where beautiful smiles and a strong sense of family unity makes our church an ideal place for a Spiritual home.
Immediately following service, families may register for Christian Education/Sunday Church School, which will resume in October 2008. Detailed announcement about the Church School will be made at the Homecoming service.
Come let us worship the Lord. Let us spread the Good Word.

Dear friends and family in Christ’
The Church of the Holy Apostle invites you in God’s grace to discipleship on Sunday, July 6, 2008. The Lord has already chosen you as one of his ambassadors. So lets us celebrate this realization at the 10:00 am Eucharist service in commemoration of the Feast of Title.
What a privilege it is to serve God and our fellow human brethren. You already have special gifts from God, so come and share your true purpose by participating in our “Apostleship Presentation” on Sunday during service. Tell the world of your mission if Jesus chose you to serve as a 21st Century Apostle. Just give your name to one of the Wardens. No audition or formal education required. You have it, share it.
On this joyous occasion, you will hear Rev. Frederick Opare-Addo’s highly spiritual and inspirational sermon. He can truly capture the spiritual moment and deliver the word with true passion.
As part of our fellowship and in keeping with the symbolic fishermen’s trade, we are asking the congregation to bring a fish dish, so we all can partake in a meal following the service in the undercroft. We can all be a family in Christ Jesus.Remember they gave up their nets and boats to follow him, and witnessed the miracle of the five loaves of bread and fish.
Your presence at the service will have a profound influence on your personal life as well as spreading the good news to the rest of the community.
"Come follow me"
June Newsletter
Let us all praise the Lord for the beautiful Sunday morning of June 1, 2008, when Bishop Walker made his pastoral visit to our church: The weather was perfect, the Eucharistic was enlightening, and the food was scrumptious.
First, let us thank the Acolytes for serving so magnificently. Without a doubt, their skillful manner added to the importance of the occasion. The young people of Holy Apostles richly deserve our kudos.
In Bishop Walker’s sermon, he summarized the seasons of the church, beginning with Advent and ending with Pentecost. He asked us to be believers in miracles and to be active participants in the Episcopal charities and various charitable appeals.Further, he stated that individuals may not have large sums of money to give, but we should give generously according to whatever one is able to share. Finally, he spoke about appointing “Angels”, individuals who are emissaries for various campaigns and fundraising programs, initiated through the diocese for local or worldwide causes. We at Holy Apostles will do our part in continuing to make a difference in people’s lives.
Bishop Walker was very impressed with our attendance on Sunday and he was quite pleased with our progress. However, he asked us to concentrate our resources and energies toward developing our mission to serving the community. To this end, it was a very productive and informative visit.
There are so many people to thank for making this great event a rousing success. Special thanks to Wendy Pilgrim for her exemplary stewardship, Elba Danylchuk for coaching the Acolytes to near perfection, and Andrew for his fine craftsmanship, leadership and contribution for the timely completion of the church office. He is richly deserving of a high-level reward.Gracious thanks to Raymond & Phyllis Alexander and their talented daughter Shannon, for her musical presentation, Pamela Martin, Belle and Glenn Jussen, Fr. Fred, and all who contributed to the success of the Bishop’s visit..Least we forget the superb decorating of the undercroft, which created the perfect ambiance for this most special occasion.
We at Holy Apostles will rejoice in God’s name and continue to be the shining light in the Diocese of Long Island.
