2008 Easter Message:

THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTION

At Easter, we celebrate the power and glory of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This is the very core of the Christian faith.

The supernatural power and brilliant glory of God is consistently displayed through the Easter perspective of the past, present, and future. Easter really puts human history in perspective.

The Easter message that the apostles and the early church preached declares that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Lord of life. He died a voluntary death and suffered crucifixion as the Savior of the world. He bore our sins in His body on the cross, but He won the victory over sin, death and hell, and was raised to the newness of resurrection life on Easter morning.

The New Testament always links His absolute sovereignty as Lord of life to the events of Easter. The resurrection endorsed, proclaimed and demonstrated the victory that Jesus won at the cross. John 20:1-29. He died as our Savior, but he now lives as our Lord.

We are witnesses to that fact. God has commanded us to testify to the power of the resurrection. That means more than just telling people the historical facts, as we believe them to be. We should live the new transformed life in Christ Jesus, to prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2.

Easter is about joy and hope for today and tomorrow and the promise of Jesus living in us and giving us eternal life.

We should share that new life with others. We should allow rays of the power of the risen Christ to shine and to emanate from us. If we know joy because of Easter then we should share joy. If we know hope because of Easter, we should bring hope to others. If we know forgiveness and love then we should forgive and love others.

As we celebrate Easter together, I wish everyone, at home and abroad, that joy and hope which our Blessed Lord's Resurrection brings. I pray God to bestow upon all, the joy and the power of the resurrection, so that the words of Jesus become real as He said: "I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly". John.10:10.

Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed, Halleluiah!

May you experience a Happy and Blessed Easter!

The Rev. Frederick Opare-Addo.
